UPLIFT AND CONNECT OUR COMMUNITY

The Global Innovation Centre (GIC) aims not only to foster innovation and progress, but also to promote positive impacts in our community. The design of the facility seeks to blend into the environment, make the site more accessible, and provide inviting, green open spaces that members of the public can enjoy.

By uplifting Pokfulam as a world-class upstream research hub, the GIC will further strengthen Hong Kong’s development into an international innovation and technology centre, catalyse economic growth, and encourage original discovery.

A Sustainable and Connected Space

As a new landmark building in Pok Fu Lam, the University recognises the importance of sustainable design and share the aspirations of the neighbourhood.

Enhanced accessibility with people in mind

Visitors and the public can utilise comfortable and barrier-free pedestrian pathways in the GIC to overcome the level difference between Pokfulam Road and Victoria Road

Open space for all

With a range of public spaces, such as open-air atriums, courtyards and landscaped roof gardens, everyone can connect with nature at the GIC

HARMONY WITH OUR COMMUNITY

Use of prefabricated building elements and water-spraying on site as far as possible to minimise dust generation during construction

Adopting quieter piling and construction methods, in addition to the use of acoustic barriers, silencer and enclosures

Maintaining communication with the community to bring benefits to the community in the preparation, construction and operation of the project.

Support STEM education and enhance primary and secondary students' interest in scientific research.
