To strengthen Hong Kong's position as a leader in basic research, the government has agreed to reserve a 4-hectare site in Pokfulam for the University of Hong Kong (HKU) to develop a deep technology research facility.
The Global Innovation Centre (GIC) will be a transdisciplinary research facility focused on upstream deep technology research, seeking to provide innovative solutions to the challenges facing humankind. It will be an essential impetus in developing Hong Kong into an international I&T center, as stated in the National 14th Five-Year Plan. Moreover, it will become a brand new I&T landmark in the Southern District, enhancing pedestrian connectivity in the district and providing green communal spaces for public enjoyment.
HKU values the views of local stakeholders. To further enhance communication with the local community, the University will arrange two briefing sessions in May to introduce the Global Innovation Centre and exchange views with stakeholders. Members of the local community are invited to join the briefing sessions.
Please register by clicking the following links or scanning the QR codes listed above on or before 9 May 2022 (Thursday). For enquiries, please contact gic@hku.hk. Thank You.
